Good To Know: Domaine Vietti, founded in 1873 by Carlo Vietti in Castiglione Falletto at the heart of Barolo, is one of Piedmont’s most respected wineries. Vietti Barolo Lazzarito DOCG 2021 is a powerful and expressive single-vineyard Barolo from Serralunga d’Alba, crafted from calcareous-clay soils in a southwest-facing amphitheater. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and partly whole clusters, it undergoes extended maceration and is aged in large Slavonian oak casks for 30 months before bottling without filtration. The wine opens with vibrant aromas of figs, plums, mint, dried herbs, blood orange, leather, and tar, with hints of incense and charcoal emerging over time. On the palate, it is full-bodied, structured, and deeply mineral, with firm tannins and energetic acidity. Reflecting the strength and elegance of Serralunga terroir, this Barolo is built for longevity and will continue to evolve gracefully for decades.
