His new venture blends estate-grown fruit with a high-end négociant model, sourcing from trusted growers across 26 appellations to craft a broad portfolio of village, Premier Cru, and Grand Cru wines. Guided by a philosophy of minimal intervention and terroir transparency, Ponsot avoids chemicals, new oak, and heavy sulfur, while embracing cutting-edge innovations like NFC capsules, oxygen-sensitive closures, and temperature-tracking shipping cases. The Charmes-Chambertin wine presents itself in a striking, bright red hue, reminiscent of a ripe cherry in its prime. Laurent Ponsot’s Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru “Cuvée du Cyprès” 2022 is a powerful yet refined Pinot Noir, hailing from one of Burgundy’s most prestigious sites. Presenting a vivid deep ruby to black-cherry color, it opens with aromas of strawberry, blackcurrant, gooseberry, licorice, and spice, underscored by violet, moss, and forest-floor notes (euwine.wine).
