Good to know: Marqués de Vargas Family Vineyards & Cellars is a saga of four generations devoted to the production and commercialization of single-estate wines in the most prestigious wine areas in Spain, with current estates in D.O.Ca Rioja, D.O. Ribera del Duero and D.O. Rías Baixas. Noble wines from a solid family project, the outcome of the commitment, the tenacity and vision of generations devoted to winemaking.
The estate-owned vineyards are planted in south-facing terraces, forming a natural amphitheater, which slope down to reach the banks of the river Miño.
The winemaking process of this Albariño is unique, as it benefits from three types of vinification: maceration of 1/3 of the grapes at low temperature (11 ºC), whole bunch pressing of another 1/3 of the grapes and direct pressing for the third part of them. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats during 10 to 15 days at a controlled temperature, looking for the terroir typicity and the varietal expression.
The 2024 vintage of Pazo de San Mauro is an exceptional 100% Albariño that beautifully embodies the Rías Baixas vineyard and its distinct terroir.
