Good to Know: Domaine Patrick Javillier is a respected family-run estate based in Meursault, Burgundy, with origins dating back to Raymond Javillier’s post–World War II return in 1945. Patrick Javillier, a trained oenologist from Dijon, took over in 1974 and gradually expanded the domaine to around 11 hectares, acquiring vineyards in Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Pommard, and Corton-Charlemagne, as well as plots from his wife’s family. Estate bottling began in 1990, and the domaine quickly gained a reputation for its precise, terroir-driven wines. Known for a philosophy of blending complementary vineyard parcels to produce wines greater than the sum of their parts, Javillier focuses primarily on Chardonnay, which is fermented and aged in oak with extended lees contact, and Pinot Noir, made with 100% destemming and concrete fermentation. Today, Patrick's daughter Marion and her husband Pierre-Emmanuel Lamy have taken on leadership roles, continuing the domaine’s legacy of crafting elegant, expressive wines that reflect the character and complexity of the Côte de Beaune.
