Good to Know: Domaine Patrick Javillier is a respected family-run estate based in Meursault, Burgundy, with origins dating back to Raymond Javillier’s post–World War II return in 1945. Patrick Javillier, a trained oenologist from Dijon, took over in 1974 and gradually expanded the domaine to around 11 hectares, acquiring vineyards in Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Pommard, and Corton-Charlemagne, as well as plots from his wife’s family. Estate bottling began in 1990, and the domaine quickly gained a reputation for its precise, terroir-driven wines. Known for a philosophy of blending complementary vineyard parcels to produce wines greater than the sum of their parts, Javillier focuses primarily on Chardonnay, which is fermented and aged in oak with extended lees contact, and Pinot Noir, made with 100% destemming and concrete fermentation. Today, Patrick's daughter Marion and her husband Pierre-Emmanuel Lamy have taken on leadership roles, continuing the domaine’s legacy of crafting elegant, expressive wines that reflect the character and complexity of the Côte de Beaune.

Patrick Javillier Meursault Les Tillets 2023 is a refined white Burgundy made from 30 to 70-year-old Chardonnay vines planted across six parcels on limestone-clay soils just outside the Meursault appellation. Aged for about 18 months in oak barrels, around 30% of which are new, the wine reveals delicate aromas of white flowers, citrus, stone fruits, subtle spice, and a distinctive saline minerality. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with bright acidity, a chalky texture, and a touch of grapefruit-like bitterness that leads to a long, mineral-laced finish.
Combining classic Meursault elegance with freshness and energy, it pairs beautifully with poultry, rich fish dishes, or cheese, and has the structure to age gracefully over the next 7 to 8 years.
