Good to Know: Domaine Robert Chevillon is a storied estate rooted in the heart of Nuits-Saint-Georges, with a legacy spanning over a century. Founded in the early 1900s by Symphorien Chevillon, the domaine has been carefully expanded and refined through generations of family dedication. From Eugène-François' post-war stewardship to Maurice’s acquisitions of Premier Cru plots, and eventually to Robert, Denis, and Bertrand Chevillon, each generation has contributed to its growth and reputation. Today, brothers Denis and Bertrand carry on the family’s passion, crafting wines celebrated worldwide for their finesse, complexity, and deep expression of Burgundy’s unique terroir.
Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru Les Vaucrains 2022 is a bold and structured Pinot Noir from a 1.5-hectare parcel on the upper slopes of one of the appellation’s most esteemed Premier Cru sites. The wine opens with a mineral-driven nose layered with dark berries, cherry, plum, star anise, and earthy, sauvage tones. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, powerful yet refined, delivering ripe red fruit accented by notes of marmalade, blood orange, and brown spice, all supported by firm, powdery tannins. Aged for 15–18 months in about 30% new oak after long maceration and full destemming, Les Vaucrains 2022 is tightly structured in its youth and built for long aging. Its steely grip, mineral backbone, and plush depth make it a serious, age-worthy Burgundy that will evolve beautifully over the next decade or more.
