Crafted from 100% Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo) grown at 700 meters altitude on rocky, gravel-laden soils, the 2021 growing season benefited from moderate summer temperatures and three timely September rainfalls. This allowed the late-harvested fruit to achieve slow, flawless phenolic maturity while preserving exceptional natural acidity and avoiding the overripeness often associated with the region. Aged for roughly 11 months in oak barrels (predominantly new French and American oak) and large vats, the 2021 release successfully tames Toro’s signature muscle and density into a wine of remarkable freshness, precision, and long-term aging potential.
