Good to know: Early in 2000, Rene Barbier purchased Partida Pedrer and together with his wife, Sara Perez (daughter of Jose Luis Perez - one of the "Priorat Five" who are known for reviving and promoting the Priorat region,) planted Garnatxa Negre and officially established Rene I Sara Viticultors Partida Pedrer. The location is famed for its amazing llicorella soils (unique to Priorat) and is ideally suited for the producing incredibly ripe and complex wines. It is also situated near several noteworthy, historical vineyards in the area.
Partida Bellvisos 2018 is a standout Priorat red wine created by Sara Pérez and René Barbier Jr. It comes from an old, terraced vineyard in Gratallops that they restored using organic and biodynamic methods. This vintage blends Garnatxa Peluda, Garnatxa Negra, and Carinyena from vines aged 70 to 80 years. The Garnatxa Peluda undergoes carbonic maceration before fermentation with native yeasts, followed by aging in French oak barrels for up to 20 months. With its vibrant character, minerality, and freshness, this limited-production wine (just 2,500 bottles) beautifully reflects the rugged essence of Priorat.
