Good to know: Remírez de Ganuza Viña Coqueta Reserva 2017 comes from the Viña Coqueta vineyard, planted in 1975 just beside the winery in Samaniego, a site that gives this wine its distinctive character. Made primarily from Tempranillo with a touch of Graciano, only the “shoulder” grapes of each cluster are used, carefully hand-selected before fermentation and aged for about two years in mostly French oak barrels. The result is a vibrant cherry-red wine with aromas of forest fruits, sweet spices, and finely integrated oak, while the palate shows depth and balance with flavors of dried cherry, cranberry, mandarin zest, and floral notes that linger on a long, elegant finish. Produced only in select vintages, Viña Coqueta is a refined and terroir-driven Rioja with great elegance and aging potential.
