Good to Know: Domaine
Ramonet's winemaking philosophy anchors itself on two cornerstones, old vines
and low yields. Vines younger than 18 years are not used for their top cuvees.
As a result, Ramonet wines are considered to be highly collectible, age defying
and almost always fetch ultra premium prices in auctions all around the world.
Pierre Ramonet started the domaine by purchasing land in
Burgundy starting in the 1930's. By the 50's the domaine owned a large number
of grand cru sites as well as several premier cru sites. It was however in the
late 70's when the domaine acquired their famed holdings in the Le Montrachet
sites. Today, the domaine is ran by the sons of Pierre Ramonet, Noel and
Jean-Claude. They have expanded their line to also include red Burgundies as
well as village level wines.
