Good to Know: The estate was first established in the middle of the nineteenth century, but Amédée Merme spent much of the first decade of the 20th century organizing and growing the vineyard. Together with his son Armand, they worked to make high-quality wines in order to protect the estate's reputation in France and elsewhere. Marie-France Merme and her husband Henri Perrot-Minot carried on her father Armand's work in the 1970s. The estate was renamed Perrot-Minot after Marie-France and Henri took over management following Armand's passing.
After seven years as a wine dealer, their son, Christophe Perrot-Minot, joined the estate and became manager in 1993. His past expertise had given him an in-depth understanding and true command of wine cultivation.
The 2022 Domaine Perrot-Minot Bourgogne “La Gouzotte” is a remarkably expressive Pinot Noir sourced from two small plots in Morey-Saint-Denis—one planted in 1968 and the other in 1998—on clay-limestone soils rich in Callovian marls. The older vines lend depth and complexity, while the younger ones contribute freshness and energy. The wine opens with bright aromas of ripe raspberry, strawberry, and a hint of white pepper, leading to a lively palate with fine tannins, vibrant acidity, and a balanced, persistent finish. Despite its regional classification, “La Gouzotte” reflects Perrot-Minot’s commitment to crafting refined, terroir-driven wines with impressive finesse and character.
