Good to know Domaine Economou is one of the most sought after producers of Greece for its artisanal wines. Yiannis Economu, the outstanding wine maker has an oenology degree from Milan. He had years of work in Germany, Bordeaux (Chateau Margaux) and Piedmont under the guidance of Nebbiolo maestros. He then returned to Crete, Greece in 1994 where Domaine Economou is now rooted.

Odyssey Thrapsathiri 2018 by Yiannis Economou is crafted entirely from the indigenous Cretan white grape Thrapsathiri, known for its drought resistance and ability to thrive in Crete’s warm climate. While this variety is often blended, Economou vinifies it as a single varietal, showcasing its full character with a rich, golden hue and complex oxidative notes of honey, dried fruit, herbs, and wax. Typically offering moderate acidity and a textured, long finish, this wine reflects the depth and age-worthy potential of Thrapsathiri when handled with minimal intervention and traditional techniques.
