Good to know: attractive and restrained ripeness on the nose with profusion of fruit on an aniseed background. Elegant and broad, showing round, fresh and well defined.

Since 1978, Bodegas Mauro has been characterized for producing quality red wines with vocation for ageing and limited production. Wines which are balanced, opulent and sensual, which express the identity of the terroir, the characteristics of the grape varieties and personality of the wine maker.

The winery was founded by Mariano García, a legend of Spanish winemaking with 50 vintages behind him and winemaker for Vega Sicilia for 30 years. The name of the winery is the tribute that its founder dedicates to his father. In the late 1990s his two sons Alberto and Eduardo joined the team, as director of operations and technical director respectively.

On the Spanish wine scene, Mauro produces wines with a modern style but with roots, devoted to tradition and with signs of self identity which make them recognizable.

Mauro Godello 2024 is an exceptional, Burgundian-inspired white wine crafted by Bodegas Mauro (Mariano García and family) from high-altitude plots in Villafranca del Bierzo and Valtuille de Arriba, released under the V.T. Castilla y León designation. Made from 100% Godello grown on poor, sloping soils of slate and sand, it was fermented and aged on its fine lees for roughly 10 months in 500-liter French oak barrels to sculpt texture while preserving varietal purity. The nose is luminous and expressive, unfurling with aromas of ripe white peach, apricot, and lemon curd layered over white orchard blossoms, wild fennel, subtle toasted brioche, and a chalky, crushed-stone minerality. On the palate, it delivers impressive tension and depth—creamy and enveloping on entry from its careful lees contact, yet driven by an energetic, cool-climate acidity that carries through to an expansive, savory, and saline-tinged finish with a classic, delicate hint of bitter almond.
