Chateau Canon La Gaffeliere is a very popular property in Saint-Emilion, producing a wine that is known for its elegance and finesse. Its Certified Organic Agriculture, In 2012, it was promoted to Premier Grand Cru Classe B status.
As a curiosity, winery started out life with two separate names (Canon Boitard and La Gaffeliere-Boitard). This was back in the 19th century. In time, the double naming was made easier for consumers. The solution was to combine the names, which created the moniker we know today as Chateau Canon La Gaffeliere.
In 1969, the state was adquired by the Von Neipperg Comte familty which are descended from a noble line dating back to the Holy Roman Empire. This family has contributed great soldiers and illustrious diplomats throughout the centuries. Responsible for numerous military exploits, the family's long history is grounded in their attachment to their land. In fact, the Counts Von Neipperg have been making fine wine there since the 12th century.
