Good To Know: Classified as Premier Cru or 1st growth in amongst the wineries (white wines) in the Sauternes sub region of Bordeaux and formerly known as Bayle (The Noble House of Bayle), Chateau Guiraud is highly regarded as one of most popular wineries in both Sauternes and Barsac. They are also regarded as one of the pioneers of sustainable farming practices amongst the premier crus and have been managing their vineyards this way since 1996.
The Le G de Chateau Guiraud 2020 is a magnificent dry, white Bordeaux produced from the vines of that also make the chateau's Premier Grand Cru sweet wine. The wine exudes brilliance with its remarkable balance and precision. Notes of lemon zest and freshly rained grass dominate the nose alongside nuances of orange marmalade, honey and stone fruits. The palate is both luscious and refreshing with gorgeous undertones of herb, vanilla and white pepper spice. The finish provides good length and is both amazingly fresh and ripe.
Bought and renamed in 1766 by Pierre Guiraud, the Chateau remained within the family until it was eventually bought and acquired by high profile partners: Robert Peugeot of the famous automobile company, Olivier Bernard of Domaine de Chavalier, Stephan Von Neipperg of Chateau Canon la Gaffeliere) and Xavier Planty, Chateau Guiraud's winemaker since 80's.
