Decanting Time: Decant only for 1 hour or less. Decant only to remove sediments (wines at this age and high quality will tend to have sediments form in the bottle. This is completely normal and a sign of the wine's age and quality. Another way to avoid sediments going in the glass is to rest the bottle vertically for at least 1 hour so that the sediments settle at the bottom and pour gently or pour using a fine strainer. Serve at 12 - 15°C
Our suggestion for decanting time is based on bottles we tried at Txanton in 2025. We guarantee that Txanton stocks are imported and maintained in proper storage within the correct temperature and humidity suitable for wine.
Good To Know: Château de La Tour is a historic wine estate located within the walls of the renowned Clos de Vougeot in Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits. As the largest landowner in this prestigious and fragmented Pinot Noir vineyard, it holds nearly 11% of the total area and is one of only two major buildings inside the clos, alongside the Château du Clos de Vougeot. The estate covers just under 5.5 hectares on the mid to upper slopes, with its most prized vines—over a century old—used to produce the Cuvée Vieilles Vignes and the rare Cuvée Hommage Jean Morin, named after François Labet’s grandfather. Built in 1890, the château now houses the winemaking facilities for both Château de La Tour and Domaine Pierre Labet. Grapes are vinified using whole-bunch fermentation and aged in French oak barrels for 16 to 18 months, with the amount of new oak varying by cuvée—50% for the classic Clos de Vougeot and 100% for the top-tier selections. The flagship wine, Hommage Jean Morin, is crafted only in exceptional vintages from the first bunch of the first shoot on the estate’s oldest vines, with production limited to just a couple of barrels. The estate remains under the ownership of the Labet and Déchelette families and has been managed by François Labet since 1984.
Château de la Tour’s Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2021, produced by Labet & Déchelette, is a refined expression from Burgundy’s iconic Clos de Vougeot vineyard, farmed organically and vinified entirely within the walls of the Clos. The wine shows a vibrant ruby-purple hue and opens with an elegant bouquet of fresh red berries—strawberries, raspberries, and wild cherries—alongside floral notes of rose petal, crushed flint, mint, sweet spices, and hints of chocolate and smoke. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied with supple, powdery tannins, bright acidity, and a mineral-driven texture that leads to a long, polished finish. This vintage combines freshness and depth, showing early charm while also promising graceful evolution over the coming years.
