Good to know: Domaine Claude Dugat is a family owned business who practices sustainable viticulture. The domaine never uses fertilizers nor herbicides on their vines. They harvest only when the grapes achieve a level of ripeness determined solely by taste testing and not via lab analysis. Because of their unique approach, the domaine has acquired a cult status for their highly sought after but very limited production wines.
Domaine Claude Dugat was established in 1955 by Maurice Dugat, Claude's father. He purchased a 13th century structure once used to store agricultural tithes and donations for the church called "Grange de Dimes." Maurice then converted it to a winery and cellar and renamed it the Cellier des Dimes. Today, Claude Dugat leads the winery and production team with his family, while his three children also run the small negociant business called La Gibryotte. Also interesting to note is that Claude's cousin, Bernard Dugat is also a well-regarded Burgundy producer who owns Domaine Dugat-Py.
