Good to know: One of the top estates in Saint-Estephe, Chateau Montrose was classified 2eme Grand Cru Classe or Second Growth by the 1855 Classification. Its close proximity to water via the Gironde river, has a moderating effect to both intense cold and extreme heat. The abundance of pebbles in the soil retain daytime warmth as night covers the vineyards, providing substantial aid to the ripening of the grapes.
The 2016 vintage of La Dame de Montrose was characterized by a cool and wet start to the season, followed by a dry and hot summer. The winter was mild, with regular and intense rainfall in the spring. There were no damages caused by frost in the vineyard in April. The estuary played a crucial role as a temperature regulator throughout the season.
