Good To Know: Coralie de Boüard, daughter of the world famous Chateau Angelus' Hubert de Boüard de Laforest, leads the team behind Chateau Clos de Bouard. After purchasing an overlooked plot of land in Montagne Saint Emilion, Coralie and her husband transformed the limestone rich, clay plot into a vineyard capable of producing wines of exquisite quality and complexity.
La Dame de Bouard 2016, Chateau Clos de Bouard's second wine is best described as the wine's extroverted sister. Focusing on a more fruit driven approach but still maintaining a level of depth that keeps the experience interesting. Lush red fruit notes of wild raspberry and macerated strawberry open in the wine's bouquet. The addition of sweet cinnamon spice and nutmeg are evident as well on the palate. The wine is light to medium bodied with a slightly shorter finish that remains true to its refreshing and elegant fruit driven style. A bit of aging may add a bit more complexity however this wine is best enjoyed young to truly experience a fresher style of Bordeaux.
Chateau Clos de Bouard is owned by Coralie de Boüard, Chateau Angelus' second generation. Together with her husband, she brings her family's legacy, experience and prestige to a lesser known but still highly valued sub-region of Bordeaux, Montagne Saint Emilion.
