Good to Know: VALDUERO was established in 1984 and emerged as one of the pioneering wineries contributing to the creation of the D.O Ribera del Duero.
The first generation of winemakers, namely Gregorio García Álvarez, Yolanda García Viadero, and Carolina García Viadero, carried forward the legacy of their ancestors. Their primary objective revolved around attaining a highly regarded status in both Spain and Europe as a whole.
With Gregorio being an industrial engineer, Yolanda wielding expertise in agricultural engineering and holding a Master's degree in Enology, and Carolina boasting a degree in Art History and an MBA, these individuals formed an impeccably coordinated team. Their collective efforts initiated an enduring and triumphant journey that resulted in numerous international accolades and substantial recognition for their wines, positioning the winery among the top ten establishments in Europe.
The creation of Bodegas Valduero 'Valduero' Una Cepa wine originated in 2006, when Yolanda García Viadero made the decision to craft a wine exclusively using grapes from a specific area of the vineyard. Notable characteristics of this wine include its limited production and the presence of small clusters which boast an extraordinary level of concentration. Following the harvest, the grapes undergo fermentation for a period of 9 days, maintaining a temperature range between 23ºC and 28ºC, and are then subjected to a 10-day maceration process. It is worth noting that these grapes are sourced from a vineyard comprised of small bushes, which notably lack irrigation and chemical fertilization. Moreover, this vineyard is recognized for having one of the lowest yields in the world, resulting in the production of just a single bottle per vine.
With utmost care, the grapes are handpicked, with each bunch carefully selected. Such meticulous attention to detail showcases the immense potential of the Tempranillo grape. Remarkably, each individual vine produces merely one bottle of this extraordinary wine. These vines have thrived for over half a century, making this vineyard an epitome of longevity and exceptional winemaking. Furthermore, this vineyard is classified as low yield, producing roughly 2,000 kg per hectare. Lastly, the presence of indigenous yeasts further contributes to the distinct character and terroir essence of our wine.
The wine has a vibrant cherry-red color, exhibiting a profound hue. It possesses a remarkable elegance of aromas and exceptional intensity. The wine flaunts a superbly crafted structure, presenting a lingering finish. It gracefully glides across the palate, unveiling its richness and satisfactorily satisfying the taste buds.
