The winery is a result of a long connection to the land and the revolutionary methods and respect for the ecosystem.
Anselmo Mendes 'Muros Antigos' Alvarinho is from Alvarinho grapes that is exclusive to the sub-region of Moncao and Melgaco. It is localized and provides the micro-climate due to the surrounding mountains which contributes greatly to the quality of grapes’s aromatic freshness.
Anselmo Mendes 'Muros Antigos' Alvarinho 2025, a benchmark white wine that perfectly captures the essence of Portugal's renowned Monção e Melgaço sub-region. Crafted by the "King of Alvarinho," this exceptional 2025 vintage benefited from a beautifully balanced growing season, yielding incredibly concentrated, sun-kissed fruit while retaining the grape's signature electric acidity. Fermented at low temperatures and aged on its fine lees for added textural depth, this 100% Alvarinho delivers a crisp, dry profile brimming with vibrant notes of zesty lemon peel, juicy white peach, and a delicate floral lift. Backed by a mouthwatering, wet-stone minerality drawn from the region's ancient granite soils, this highly age-worthy yet instantly refreshing 2025 pour is an essential, terroir-driven companion for fresh oysters, grilled prawns, or bright summer salads.
This wine has pronounced citric notes of lemon and grapefruit. It has a clear, direct and refreshing feel to the mouth. A bit of lemon peel note on the mouth, along with the stress and flavorful acidity. It has a long finish and good mouthfeel.
