The Albert Mann Riesling Schlossberg 2023 is a dry Grand Cru white wine sourced from the steep, south-facing granite terraces of Kaysersberg. As the first vineyard in Alsace to receive Grand Cru status, Schlossberg is famous for its nutrient-poor, coarse granitic sand soils, which force the vines to dig deep for nutrients. Under biodynamic cultivation, the vines navigated the hot, dry summer of the 2023 vintage remarkably well. Thanks to the deep root systems of the old vines and timely late-summer rains, the grapes achieved superb physiological ripeness with high flavor concentration. Fermented slowly with native yeasts and aged on its fine lees in large neutral oak foudres, the 2023 vintage showcases a precise, bone-dry structure with a highly focused, vertical acidity and an intense, crystalline minerality that reflects the pure granite bedrock.
