Good to Know: Nestled in the heart of Castilla y León, Abadía Retuerta is a historic Spanish estate where winemaking tradition meets modern innovation. Established in a restored 12th-century monastery, the winery lies just outside the Ribera del Duero appellation, allowing it the freedom to craft exceptional “Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León” wines. Its 700-hectare estate is home to meticulously managed vineyards planted with Tempranillo alongside Bordeaux varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Merlot, producing wines of remarkable depth and character.
Abadía Retuerta Le Domaine Blanco 2023 is a refined white blend from Castilla y León, crafted with ~80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Verdejo, aged for 5-7 months in French oak and rested on lees for texture. It opens with a fresh, mineral nose of grapefruit, mandarin, pear and florals, then evolves toward tropical fruit and hints of apricot and lychee. On the palate it is rich and unctuous yet very well balanced by lively acidity, finishing long and aromatic. Perfect with grilled fish, white meats, seafood, and delicate cheeses, it’s a white wine with both immediate appeal and excellent age-potential.
